If I didn't have a 3 year old son and a wife, I would probably sit down and watch the entire LotR trilogy back-to-back. 9 hour fantasy fest!!

As it was, we watched The Incredibles (for the umpteen zillionth time), Shrek: The Halls (movie short), The Gruffalo (CGI animation of the popular children's story), and 'The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe.'

Penny and I also watched State of Play, and some psycho stalker movie Penny recorded in May, called Irresistible <- pile o' pants.

Want to watch:

District 9 (again)
G.I. Joe - The Rise Of Cobra
Transformers 2 - Revenge Of The Fallen
Underworld - Rise of the Lycans

...and possibly Twilight (depends if it is too teen angst orientated, and not enough blood-sucking / vampire SFX).

Dusty, love the xmas list. Real Dicksonian. But after watching Scrooged and being disappointed (the movie was better in my memory), I do agree with you change of pace.

Some quick questions: What did you think of "body of lies"? What of Transformers 2?

and I got District 9 waiting for me on my harddisk. Should I watch it tonight? Also being drawing into the tv series Dexter (now that is xmas for you!)

Watch District 9. Watch it now, you fookin' prawn!! It is A W E S O M E !!!

Prawn weapons make humans go 'sploik!' You'll see...

Not sure I've seen Body of Lies. Is it any good?

Not seen Transformers 2 yet either. Still waiting for the Blu-Ray rental disc from Lovefilm, as with District 9 - which I may just buy instead, as it was that good. smile.gif

Also want to see The Hurt Locker.

Watched District 9 again last night, on Blu-Ray. Superb stuff!

I love the prawn arc weapon, and the repulsor weapon. And I seriously want one of those prawn exo-suits!

It was funny when that guy gets killed by having a high-velocity pig grav-gunned at him. laugh.gif

District 9 is a nice mix between the Blare Witch Project, the Fly and Robocop. I love the SAF accent and realistic feel of the movie. And yes all the Half Life weapons are in the movie.

Yeah, this time around I noticed an extra weapon belonging to the exo-suit, which I had not noticed last time I saw the film.

It's use was reserved especially for killing the Nigerian gang leader. A metal cylinder fired into his forehead, which then caused his head to expand, before exploding in a cloud of blood and brains.

Ultra powerful brain taser! Nice! cool.gif

Not forgetting the Tesla Rifle: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=1NF32ynKZOY

Fook, I love this movie, brew...

Just been looking at Neill Blomkamp's other short movies... Maybe some more films to come from this guy...?

Alive in Joburg (inspired District 9; exo-suits look stupid though) http://www.youtube.c...feature=related

Yellow (A.I. related antics): http://www.youtube.c...feature=related

Tetra Vaal (RoboCop job): http://www.youtube.c...feature=related

Not so sure about Halo though. Game to film, usually sucks, except for Hitman. Maybe lucky it got canned in favour of District 9, eh?

I too am being drawn into Dexter. A guy I work with gave me Season 1. I'm up to episode 4 now.

Seeing as you rated it, Fisky, I thought I would also give it a watch. Strangely compelling viewing, I must admit...

Just finished season 3. And again it had a great ending. My friend is telling me season 4 still keeps up to expectations! (this is beyond my expectation looking a series like Lost etc.)

Going back to District 9 for a moment...

Last night, we had an Asda Home Delivery. As per usual, some items were missing from our shopping.

I rang the HelpDesk, and a guy answered who sounded EXACTLY like Sharlto Copley from District 9.

When he asked me which items were missing, I so wanted to say "It's the fookin' prawns, brew!"

Unfortunately they weren't missing. It was the milk and the salad tomatoes.

SAF accent is really nice. I have a college that is from SAF and I keep suppressing a giggle when he speaks.

Yeah, think of the endless District 9 gags...

Lunchtime: Hey, brew. What's thet on your sendwiches? Fookin' prawns!

Playing chess: Now my knight is going to take your fookin' pawn.
